Hey all,
time really flies.
Last year we decided to launch Soi Books as a new indie art book publisher with our first real titles being released in January this year. These include the Hello My Name Is Series, our Craft Beer Sticker Book, Plaza - A Southeast Asian Photography Journal, and our new illustration and collage, picture-only release - Bloc.
I can say confidently, we have been non-stop learning. From keeping the business afloat, maintaining a high level of creativity and just getting our name out there, there’s been some hairy moments but 6 months in, we are making some wonderful progress. So a big thank you for buying our books, showing love, and helping keep our motivation high.
Here are some things we wanted to share :
We get asked how we curate images for our publications. What do we look for? What can artists do themselves when curating their own images? For us, there are some key elements that we look for that were nicely outlined here.
We Checked Out The very first Norwich Print Party and was at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, London.
Our book-making service is well and truly launched. As with all new products and services, there are things we can do operationally to make the process smoother, but we’ll be soon announcing some great new titles to add to our growing list - watch this space and read all about it here.
Plaza and our very Soi Books co-founder
was featured in the Southeast Asia Globe magazine. It’s a great source of all news across the region - check out the article here and you can pre-order a copy of Plaza here.
And finally, we are super proud to release our very first art journal Bloc. We’ve taken a bit of time to get this right but we’re really proud of it and it’s flying off the shelves. You can find out more info here and do pick up a copy of it :)
